FAQ

Q & A

DO I NEED TO RSVP?

Yes! Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can finalize preparations.

Deadline to RSVP is June 30th!

CAN I BRING A PLUS ONE?

Due to our venue capacity, we are only able to accommodate those addressed on your invitation.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?

As much as we’d love to include all of our friends’ children, we’re only able to accommodate a small number of close children, who will be named on the invitation. We hope this gives parents the chance to relax and enjoy a child-free celebration with us.

IS THERE A WEDDING REGISTRY?

We’re so grateful to be able to celebrate with you. Gifts are not expected, but if you wish to give, a contribution toward our honeymoon fund would be greatly appreciated. Please visit the Registry page on our website for more details.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

We’d love to see our family and friends dress up - think anything from cocktail to formal! But please don’t stress about the dress code; the most important thing is that you’re comfortable and ready to have fun!
We kindly ask that guests avoid jeans, shorts, and khakis.

WILL THERE BE AN OPEN BAR?

Yes—drinks are on us! We’ll also have a shuttle bus running and parking will be available at the venue. If you do park at the venue and want to take the shuttle at the end of the night, vehicles need to be picked up by 10am Sunday morning.

WILL IT BE OUTSIDE?

Our ceremony will take place outdoors, and the reception will be held in the barn.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

Late september in PEC has been warm in recent years, usually in the low to mid-20s. That said, weather can be unpredictable, so we recommend bringing a jacket or sweater for the evening—and checking the forecast before you head out.

Our Story

Our Story

A BIT OF OUR STORY FOR YOU, IF YOU FEEL LIKE READING ABOUT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH OTHER OVER THE LAST 10+ YEARS!

When we first met

Janelle and Adam met the summer of 2015, both working at Paradiso in their hometown of Oakville. Janelle, who many know as Janie, was a hostess and Adam a lowly dish boy. Quickly the two became best of friends by goofing around in the workplace, sneaking into bars after shift, celebrating birthdays, going to parties and zooming around Oakville in either Adam's moms Toyota Venza or Janie’s moms astrovan. It was the most fun summer of their young lives! But Adam had to be back in school in Ottawa for second year university and Janie off to school at Ryerson. Before parting at the end of summer, Janie had told Adam that it felt like they would always be in each other's lives, one way or another. They stayed in touch over the next year and in the fall of 2016 their relationship went from best pals to boyfriend-girlfriend.

Adam fell in love with her dark hair and fair skin, her big glasses and blue eyes, the way she understood all his jokes and commitment to the dumb Halloween costume ideas. He loved that they were always in step; laughing at the same things, crying at the same movies. She was sweet and gentle, she was his safe place. Janie found comfort in Adam that she had never found before. He made her laugh like no one else could, entertained her silly thoughts and ideas, and made her feel seen. He was always there, steadfast, patient and loving. She loved his softhearted nature and his ability to make anyone in the room crack up. They truly were each other's best friends!

Their love grew as they would travel what felt like 1000 kms back and forth on the greyhound bus between Ottawa and Toronto. But after many 7 hour rides, 100 homework assignments, 1 broken down train, 1000 pizza doughs tossed and what had to be a million texts and phone calls, they couldn’t make the distance work and they parted ways in 2017.

Finding Each Other Again

Adam went on to finish his undergrad (miracle) and get his master’s degree (double-miracle). Janie graduated from Ryerson and boldly packed up her life(and her cat) and started her journey to Victoria mid-pandemic in 2020. 2 years later Adam gets a job offer to work in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, how interesting. Without hesitation he lets Janie know that he is coming and boldly asks to sleep on her couch once he arrives (not knowing Nanaimo and Victoria are nearly 2 hours apart). After 5 years of not talking or seeing each other, Janie had quickly texted her friends about how excited she was to have Adam back in her life, even if that was just as friends.

Adam started his new laboratory Job living in Nanaimo August 2022 and every weekend, almost without failure, would make the drive down to Victoria in that same Toyota Venza (thanks mom) with zero suspension or AC. Once again, they were each other's safe space, someone they both felt connected to at their core. Janie would have fun get togethers with neighbours and friends. She brought Adam to all the primo camping spots and hikes the island had to offer. When they weren’t together in Victoria, they were on the phone every night, chatting, squawking, watching Lost together and laughing at Adam’s wild living situations.

Their feelings for each were blossoming again, though Janie was apprehensive at first, not because the feeling wasn’t mutual(it was!), but she feared that she would lose a cherished friend again(she didn’t!). After years apart, they were still drawn to each other and they couldn’t deny their strong feelings. In January 2023, they both confessed how they felt for each other(finally) and became a couple officially, much to the delight of their friends who had been rooting for them for months, some even for years! Both Adam and Janie knew they would always be in each other’s lives; it felt like destiny was what brought them together on an island 3000 km away from home, like they would always find each other, no matter how far away.

Along the Way

Adam loaded up his 1984 Ford camper with all his things and moved in with Janie July of 2023. Adam and Janie spent their days working and evenings fixing up the old camper until it was dark all summer long. With almost 0 handy work between them, they built a pretty cool slide out dinette complete with cushions (from scratch). They took the ol beast out camping up and down Vancouver and the gulf islands, a true test of what was to come; a west coast trip down to California. The camper may have passed the Canada test, but it failed the USA test…day 2 off of the ferry one of the tires exploded leaving them stranded in Washington state for 8 hours, followed by the brakes petering out on them on the California coast. Just after that the headlights decided to take a break and later a backfire problem that looked to end their trip all together. BUT through all the fixes and tows and calls to BCAA, Adam and Janie never fought once. They put their trust in each other and powered through every road bump. They made it to their friend's wedding and had a hell of a time, this all with a cat in the camper mind you. In the words of both their parents “If you can get through that, you can get through anything”.

The Engagement

Adam and Janie got engaged on March 22nd 2025 under a gazebo in the Japanese garden of Royal Roads University in Victoria. Their friends Sam and Simon went ahead and set up an amazing string light and candle adorned altar complete with prosecco. They hid in the bushes around the garden snapping pictures and politely telling tourists to %$@! off. Both Janie and Adam nearly blacked out as it all happened, and while she might not remember actually saying the word aloud, it was an unequivocal yes. Adam and Janie have found each other not once but twice, and know that there is no denying that they will always be meant for one another.

The Next Chapter

None of our story is possible without the love and support of our friends and family,

and we are so happy and proud to have all of you join us in celebrating as our story continues!

REGISTRY

WELCOME TO OUR REGISTRY

We are eagerly looking forward to celebrating with all of our loved ones on our special day! Your attendence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all.

If you are considering bringing a gift, kindly note that we have opted for a less traditional approach to our registry.

We have lived together for many years now and we feel lucky enough to have all the physical items we need to start our lives together. Our priority is spending invaluable time together on the honeymoon of our dreams. As such,  we have created a wedding/honeymoon registry and we would be incredibly grateful to receive a monetary contribution in lieu of a physical gift to create new experiences that will last a lifetime.
